Tim Tebow Trade Not Official Until Saturday

Stay connected for news and updates

Tim Tebow and the New York Jets have had a wild week. The Jets originally traded for Tebow's services, but when a contract snag put the trade in jeopardy, other teams – the Jacksonville Jaguars – were able to get back in the mix for Tebow. At the end of the day, the Jets and Broncos worked through the issue and Tebow is coming to New York. However; the trade cannot be made official until Saturday.

Before Tebow becomes a Jet, he must sign a rewritten contract with the Broncos, per the report, and remain on their salary cap for 24 hours. The transaction will not be official until 4 p.m. Saturday.

Tebow will act as the backup to Mark Sanchez, for now, and will likely play sub packages on offense.
