Tim Tebow Trade: Broncos Say Jets Didn't Read Tim Tebow Contract Carefully, According To Report

Stay connected for news and updates

The Denver Broncos are saying that the New York Jets agreed to the Tim Tebow trade without carefully reading the quarterback's contract, according to a report.

The Tebow contract has language about how much money a team acquiring him in a trade would have to kick back to the Broncos. That amount is reportedly a little more than $5 million.

The contract says any team acquiring Tebow has to kick back $5.06375 million to the Broncos in advanced salaries from the 2012, 2013 and 2014 seasons, according to an NFL source. (via Denver Post)

The reason why other teams such as the Jaguars might have backed off from a trade for Tebow could have been due to the kick back language in the contract, which they reportedly noticed while the Jets did not.
