Tim Tebow Trade: Antonio Cromartie Questions Why New York Jets Want Tebow

Stay connected for news and updates

It didn't take long for the backlash to begin on the Tim Tebow trade. And some of it is coming from his new teammates.

Cornerback Antonio Cromartie questioned the New York Jets' acquisition of Tebow on Twitter an hour and a half before the team made the trade official.

"Y bring Tebow in when we need to bring in more Weapons for @Mark_Sanchez let's build the team around him. We already signed to 3 year ext," Cromartie tweeted at 11:16, one hour and 34 minutes before the Jets announced the Tebow deal.

The Jets signed Mark Sanchez to a contract extension less than two weeks ago, a sign that the team considers Sanchez a franchise quarterback. But by acquiring Tebow from the Denver Broncos for a fourth-round pick, the Jets essentially assured that media members and fans will call for Sanchez to be benched unless he is perfect throughout the entire season.
