Jets Free Agency 2012: LaRon Landry Signs With New York Jets

Apparently, the overnight visit worked.

Free agent safety LaRon Landry signed with the New York Jets on Monday after arriving in New York on Sunday for an overnight visit, according to Michael Lombardi of the NFL Network. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the deal is worth $4 million over one season.

The Jets had been looking for safety help, and they found it -- providing Landry stays healthy.

Productive when he's able to stay on the field, Landry has been limited by Achilles issues to just 17 games over the past two seasons. He had 48 tackles during an injury-plagued 2011 campaign, managing to suit up for just eight games.

Landry began the previous season on a tear, registering 85 tackles, a sack and an interception during Washinton's first nine games. But an Achilles injury forced him to miss the remainder of the season.
