Jets Free Agency 2012: Drew Stanton Signs With New York, According To Report

The New York Jets have found a backup for Mark Sanchez.

The Jets signed former Detroit Lions quarterback Drew Stanton to a one-year, $1.25 million contract, according to a report from Aaron Wilson of Scout.com.

Stanton appeared in six games in 2011, making three starts for the Lions. He finished the season with 780 yards, four touchdowns, three interceptions, a 58.0 percent completion rate and a 78.1 quarterback rating. During his four-year career, all spent with the Detroit Lions, Stanton has thrown for 1,158 yards, five touchdowns and nine interceptions while completing 55.6 percent of his passes.

The 6-foot-3, 230-pound Stanton spent his college days at Michigan State.
