Jets Free Agency 2012: Brandon Meriweather Reportedly Visiting Jets

Stay connected for news and updates

Despite a flurry of activity around them, the New York Jets have remained relatively quiet on the free agency front. And while it doesn't appear that they're preparing for any sort of major splashes soon, the Jets do have their eyes on a pair of players.

Drew Stanton, a reserve quarterback for the Detroit Lions, is apparently on the Jets radar, according to a report. He'd likely compete for the backup job behind Mark Sanchez.

Additionally, the Jets have lined up a visit with former New England Patriots and Chicago Bears safety Brandon Meriweather. Meriweather comes with baggage, but also has previously been named to a Pro Bowl. The Jets need safety help in the worst way, and Meriweather would be an upgrade.
