Peyton Manning: Colts' Owner Denies Decision To Release Him

Stay connected for news and updates

A word of caution to New York Jets fans pining for Peyton Manning to become the team's quarterback. Don't get your hopes up too much just yet -- Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay says the future Hall of Famer "hasn't been released nor was a decision reached weeks ago."

Irsay was responding to a story by Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network that a decision by the Colts to move on without Manning had been made "weeks ago."

Manning is due a $28 million roster bonus in March, but LaCanfora reported that Manning is likely to be an ex-Colt prior to the NFL Scouting Combine.

There has been much speculation about Manning, who will be 36 next season, replacing Mark Sanchez as the Jets quarterback. Of course it remains to be seen whether or not Manning, who had three neck surgeries within the past year, will be healthy enough to resume his career.
