2011 NFL Mock Draft: Defense Remains The Smart Bet

This week's mock draft update for the New York Jets continues a trend we have seen the past month, which is that most people think the Jets will address their defense in the first round. More specifically that they will look to improve their aging and thin defensive line. Phil Taylor and Corey Liuget were both popular picks this week, with SB Nation finally getting over tight end Kyle Rudolph and pairing Liuget with the Jets.

It is hard to argue with the reasoning behind most of these picks, outside of Brandon Harris of Miami. I'd be shocked if the Jets took a corner in the first round for the second straight year and do ultimately think they will hold on to Antonio Cromartie. Personally, if I had guess today who the Jets will end up with, I'd feel safest going with Phil Taylor.
