New York Jets wide receiver Logan Payne's season is over before it had a chance to begin. After missing the first six weeks of the season with a dislocated left wrist suffered during training camp, Payne was placed on the injured reserve list Saturday, according to reports.
Payne had surgery on the wrist and was hoping to making a return this year, but the Jets needed to clear a spot on the 53-man roster for defensive tackle Martin Tevaseu prior to today's game against the San Diego Chargers. Tevaseu was brought up as additional backup for fellow defensive tackle Mike DeVito, who is questionable for the game after injuring his knee at practice Wednesday. If DeVito ultimately has to sit out, the Jets will give rookie Kenrick Ellis his first NFL start. A third-round pick out of Hampton University, Ellis made his NFL debut this past Monday against the Dolphins.
