LaDainian Tomlinson AFC Offensive Player Of The Week

LaDainian Tomlinson of the New York Jets has been named AFC Offensive Player Of The Week.

  • Tomlinson registered his first 100-yard game as a Jet, rushing for 133 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries (7.0 average) in a 38-14 win over Buffalo.
  • Recorded the first score of the game on a one-yard touchdown run.  His second touchdown came in the third quarter on a 26-yard run.
  • Led the NFL in rushing yards (133) in Week 4 and tied for the league high in rushing touchdowns with two.
  • Tomlinson now has 25 games with at least 100 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns, tying Pro Football Hall of Famer JIM BROWN for the most such games in NFL history.  Tomlinson’s teams are 25-0 in those games.
  • Has 12,831 career rushing yards, passing Pro Football Hall of Famer TONY DORSETT (12,739) for the seventh-most rushing yards in NFL history.
  • In his 10th season from TCU, this is Tomlinson’s 11th career Player of the Week Award.  He most recently won the award in 2006 (Week 15) with the San Diego Chargers.  He is the first Jets running back to win Offensive Player of the Week since CURTIS MARTIN in 2004 (Week 1).
