Good morning, New York sports fans! Here is your first look at the local sports scene.
- The New York Jets toppled Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings in Monday Night Football, 29-20. Dwight Lowery's interception and return for a touchdown sealed the deal for the 4-1. I don't know about you, but I was somehow expecting another Monday night Favre miracle when the Vikings got the ball wth 1:48 to play trailing by two points. See Gang Green Nation for more.
- Monday was a big hockey day around these parts. The Rangers and Islanders squared off, with the Isles winning 6-4, and the Devils lost to Pittsburgh, 3-1.
- Allard Baird, Mets fans? Baird, former Kansas City Royals GM, was the first candidate to interview for that vacant job in New York.
