Mark Sanchez reaction: 'I know how to play better'

Mark Sanchez - Elsa

After hearing Rex Ryan say on Wednesday that he will remain the starting quarterback for the New York Jets, Mark Sanchez said "now it’s my job to go make him right."

Through 12 games, Sanchez is statistically the worst full-time starting quarterback in the league, and ranked 32nd out of 34 quarterbacks who qualify to be graded. His 71.4 passer rating and 55 percent completion rate are both worst in the league among starters. He has thrown more interceptions (13) than touchdown passes (12). Ryan pulled him Sunday after Sanchez went 10-for-21 and threw three interceptions.

Sanchez said he still "felt confident in my abilities" and was "poised and ready to play a good game" Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

"I’ll be fine. I know how to play better and now it’s time to go prove it. I put myself in a tough spot here and it’s time to work your way out of it and play like I know I can and like I want to," Sanchez said.

That is what Ryan is banking on. If Sanchez can't do that, the next time he gets pulled the move might well be permanent.
