Six Jets players missed practice on Thursday, and Rex Ryan confirmed that Tim Tebow will have a limited role on Monday night.
Tim Tebow has been dealing with injured ribs, but he looks like he'll be the backup quarterback when the Jets head to Tennessee on Monday night. Tebow was a full participant in practice on Thursday, but Rex Ryan indicated that he'll still be limited in what he can do against the Titans. Via Randy Lange:
"I don’t really see him in that role. As far as the Wildcat, obviously with the ribs the way they are, that’s a role, hopefully, that once we get the OK with those ribs, we probably expand that. But it’s not necessarily going to be a big part of our game plan. I think he’s improving, but improving to where you’re going to run the powers and the counters, I’m not sure about that."
"He can be the backup quarterback and run some base things. There’s always a chance you can put him in that role."
The Jets had a pair of players that were limited in practice Thursday, nose tackle Sione Pouha and wideout Braylon Edwards. Pouha has been dealing with back problems, while Edwards has had hamstring issues.
Six Jets players missed practice on Thursday, highlighted by running back Bilal Powell. Powell ran for 78 yards and a touchdown in last weekends game against Jacksonville, but he's dealing with a possible fractured toe. Joining Powell on the sideline Thursday were linebacker Bryan Thomas (chest), tight end Dustin Keller (ankle), wideout Stephen Hill (knee), wideout Clyde Gates (concussion) and defensive back Aaron Berry (hamstring).
The Jets are in need of a win on Monday, as they a game behind the Pittsburgh Steelers for the final wild card spot. They also trail the Bengals by a game, and would need to pass both teams if they hope to reach the postseason.
