Rex Ryan discusses his thought process during Sunday's disappointing loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan has had a rough couple of weeks that started with the season ending injury to All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis and concluded with an embarrassing 34-0 loss at the hands of the San Francisco 49erson Sunday. On Monday, Ryan joined the Michael Kay Show on ESPN New York to discuss the unfortunate sequence of events.
After explaining the frustration the club felt with the loss, talks quickly turned to quarterback Mark Sanchez and his back-up, Tim Tebow. After admitting that Sanchez underperformed, Ryan stated that he has confidence in the young quarterback. Upon being asked whether he ever considered relieving him with Tebow, the coach evaded comment, via SportsRadioInterviews.com:
"I am not comfortable talking about the what-ifs and what if this and what if that. I can say this, I am happy we have both of those guys and that we have Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow. I'll just leave it like that, but to speculate if this or if that? I am not going to do that."
The Jets will host the undefeated Houston Texans on Monday Night Football in Week 5.
