Islanders Vs. Devils: New Jersey, New York Begin Rare Three-Game Set

Its not often that two NHL franchises face each other three times in the same week, but that's what the New Jersey Devils and New York Islanders will kick start Sunday (3 p.m. ET on MSG+) at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale. The Devils (36-23-5, 77 points) will see the Islanders (27-29-9, 63 points) again on Thursday and Saturday night.

On Saturday, the Islanders snapped a three-game losing streak with a victory over the Boston Bruins 3-2. Despite the win, New York has lost five of its last seven games, including one at home.

Meanwhile, the Devils ended a four-game losing streak Friday with a victory at the Washington Capitals. New Jersey is trying to desperately hang on to its sixth-place Eastern Conference playoff spot, which is just one point head of seventh-place Ottawa Senators.

So far, the season series between these two franchises is split as the Devils won the opener 1-0 on Nov. 25, while the Isles clipped New Jersey, 3-2, on Nov. 26th.
