Islanders Vs. Bruins Final Score: Islanders Lose, 6-3

The New York Islanders put themselves in a hole early this season, beginning 11-16-7, but since their bad start have managed to play good hockey for certain stretches and climb their way back to around .500.

Coming into Saturday's matinee with the Boston Bruins, the Isles record was 33-33-11, they had won three consecutive games, and five of their last six. With only five games remaining in the regular season and the Isles all but officially eliminated from playoff contention, a .500 record would be a nice accomplishment to hang their hat on after the slow start to the season.

Unfortunately, the Bruins snapped their winning streak Sunday, by a final score of 6-3. The game was close throughout and tied after both the first and second periods, but the Bruins scored four goals in the final period to ice the game.

The Islanders play again on Sunday, when they host the Ottawa Senators.
