Evgeni Nabokov Injury: Islanders Goalie Leaves Game Against Penguins

Stay connected for news and updates

Evgeni Nabokov left Tuesday night's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins with a lower body injury. Al Montoya has taken over net to start the third period with the New York Islanders leading 5-2. Nabokov was apparently slow to get up from the crease in the second period and will not return to the game.

The Pens also replaced their goaltender, though that's because Marc-Andre Fleury had given up five goals on just 18 shots against. Brad Thiessen opened the final period in net for Pittsburgh. So far, Michael Grabner, Kyle Okposo and David Ullstrom have all scored for New York. Frans Nielsen has scored twice.
