The New York Islanders will look to avoid a series sweep to the Toronto Maple Leafs Tuesday, as they visit the Air Canada Center for a Eastern Conference showdown (7 p.m. ET on MSG-Plus). The Islanders (29-32-11, 69 points) are trying to avoid its fifth straight last-place finish in the Atlantic Division standings, while the Leafs are 4-14-2 in the last six weeks.
On Saturday, New York downed the Montreal Canadiens, 3-2, and created a tie for last place in the Eastern Conference standings. Frans Nielsen and Mark Streit each netted goals for the Islanders in the shootout victory, and helped their team snap a five-game losing streak.
Meanwhile, the Leafs (32-33-8) are slowly slipping back in the standings and are just three points ahead of the Islanders.
On Tuesday, Toronto will be trying to close out the season series against New York a perfect 4-0.
