New York Islanders Vs. Montreal Canadiens Preview

The New York Islanders return home to host the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night in a match-up of teams stuck in the basement of their respective divisions. The two clubs have split two previous meetings this season, and on each occasion the home team came out on top.

The Islanders will look to continue that trend with goalie Evgeni Nabokov leading the way, as he may start again Thursday less than 48 hours after posting a shutout against the Philadelphia Flyers. Nabokov has been lights-out in his past seven starts, recording a 6-1-0 record and allowing a measly 1.11 goals per game during that stretch.

Montreal heads into the contest seeking its first three game winning streak since early November, and it too will rely on the play of its goalie, Carey Price. Price has won consecutive starts while allowing just two goals.

The game can be seen locally at 7:00 p.m. EST on MSG+.
