The New York Islanders continued their hot play with an overtime victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday.

The New York Islanders continued their hot play and steady rise up the Eastern Conference standings with an overtime victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday. The Islanders won the game by a final of 2-1 and are now 6-2-2 in their last ten games and are within eight points of the eighth seed Toronto Maple Leafs. After their December 26 loss to the Rangers, the Islanders were one of the worst teams in the NHL at 11-17-6. Since then they've battled their way back to .500 with a 12-6-2 record.

The Islanders were able to defeat the Kings despite being out-shot 35 to 25, losing 17 more face offs and giving the pick up 10 more times.

The Isles play again on Sunday when the Florida Panthers come to town, who are currently the third seed in the Eastern Conference with 63 points.
