Penguins' captain Sidney Crosby made his triumphant return to professional hockey on Monday night, scoring two goals with two assists in Pittsburgh's 5-0 shutout over the New York Islanders at the CONSOL Energy Center.

"Sid the Kid" bounced back from a ten-month layoff stemming from head trauma suffered in consecutive games last season, but showed nos signs of rust in his much-ballyhooed return to the home ice.

Said Crosby:

"I can't even describe it. I was excited. I was anxious. I had a lot of different things going through my mind. But the main thing was just enjoying playing. That's what I've missed the last 10 months. I was mad at myself for putting myself in that position [to get checked]. I'm glad I kind of got that over with too, early on. There's going to be more hits and probably harder ones."

The Islanders were no match for the red-hot Penguins and remain in last place in the Eastern Conference after losing back-to-back games.
