Islanders-Penguins Final Score: Sidney Crosby Leads Pittsburgh To 5-0 Shutout Win Over New York

Ladies and gentlemen, Sidney Crosby is back.

The Penguins captain only needed one goal to beat the New York Islanders on Monday night at the CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Instead, he got two.

Crosby also had two assists in his return from a 10-month layoff stemming from head trauma suffered in consecutive games last season, leading his team to a 5-0 rout over the Islanders.

After Crosby broke a 0-0 tie with a first period backhand (assisted by Pascal Dupuis and Zbynek Michalek), Brooks Orpik slapped one in with a little help from Crosby and Dupuis.

The second period brought more abuse from the home team, as Evgeni Malkin (assisted by Crosby and Kris Letang) scored on the power play followed by Steve Sullivan's tip-in (assisted by Malkin and James Neal) just over two minutes later.

Crosby (assisted by Dupuis and Michalek) put the icing on the cake at 2:06 of the final frame to make it five-zip. The Penguins improve to 12-6-3 with the win while the Islanders fall to 5-10-3 in defeat.
