Penguins 3, Islanders 2 (SO): Pittsburgh Defeats New York Again

After beginning the season 3-1 the Islanders are now 3-4-1 and have played four consecutive games without recording a win – their last win coming against the Rangers on October 15. Earlier this week they were shut out by the Penguins on their home ice, before traveling to Pittsburgh losing 3-2 in a shootout last night.

Goalie Evgeni Nabokov played well, finishing with 30 saves, but was pulled from the game during the shootout. Coach Jack Capuano said of Evgeni, "[he] obviously wasn't feeling well and needed to come out."

Islanders left wing Matt Martin finished with one goal, while Penguins left wing Chris Kunitz finished with a goal and an assist.

The Islanders now sit dead-last in their division at 3-4-1 with seven points. Their next game is at home against the San Jose Sharks on Saturday – the beginning of a three-game home-stand.
