New York Giants offensive tackle David Diehl has officially been charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, according to a Queen's district attorney's office press release on Monday. The 31-year old faces up to one year in jail
After driving a car that was involved in an accident Sunday night at approximately 8:20 p.m., Diehl was reported by a responding officer to have "a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, bloodshot and watery eyes, slurred speech and to be unsteady on his feet."
A breathalyzer exam showed that Diehl had a .182 blood alcohol content level, more than twice the legal limit for an operator of a motor vehicle.
Nobody was injured in the accident, but damage was done to the front of Diehl's 2011 BMW.
Diehl has played nine NFL seasons, all as a Giants starter.
