Osi Umenyiora: Five Teams Reportedly After Giants Defensive End

Stay connected for news and updates

The New York Daily News reported this morning that five NFL teams "have expressed some level of interest" in the New York Giants unhappy defensive end. The Giants Monday gave Umenyiora's agent permission to seek a trade for the two-time Pro Bowler.

The Daily News reported the five teams at the St. Louis Rams, the San Diego Chargers, the Seattle Seahawks, the Denver Broncos and the Baltimore Ravens. The Giants would like a first-round draft pick in exchange for Umenyiora, and thus far reports have indicated teams are unwilling to part with that much for Umenyiora, who had 11.5 sacks a season ago.

Any team acquiring Umenyiora would likely also have to negotiate a new contract with him, since his unhappiness with his current deal is the root of his issues with the Giants.

The Giants have Justin Tuck, Jason Pierre-Paul and Mathias Kiwanuka at defensive end if they have to move on without Umenyiora.
