NFL Mock Draft 2011: For Giants, Offensive Line Across The Board

If you are looking for consensus when it comes to what the New York Giants might do with the 19th pick of the first round in this April's NFL Draft, I think we have it for you today. The 10 mock drafts I selected to look at this week all have one thing in common -- every last one of them chose an offensive lineman for the Giants. Now THAT is consensus.

Three mocks gave the Giants Boston College offensive tackle Anthony Castonzo, a pick that has been popular through the process. Three drafts also gave the Giants Colorado offensive tackle Nate Solder, another player often associated with the Giants.

Mel Kiper and Todd McShay of ESPN each gave the Giants Florida guard/center Mike Pouncey. Pouncey seems to be gaining traction as a mid- to late first-round pick and he reportedly met with the Giants recently.

Here is McShay talking about Pouncey [full profile]:

The Giants don't have many big needs and taking Pouncey here would provide depth behind Shaun O'Hara, who made the Pro Bowl in 2009 but was nagged by injury all year and is on the downside of his career, and oft-injured LOG Rich Seubert. This might seem a little high for Pouncey but he is clearly the top interior offensive lineman in this class, and I've heard of at least three teams that are considering him in the top 20.
