Mock Draft: SB Nation Selects Akeem Ayers, Benjamin Ijalana For New York Giants

Stay connected for news and updates

SB Nation has released its latest 2011 NFL Mock Draft, the first two-rounder the mother ship has produced this offseason. Selections made for the New York Giants by SB Nation were UCLA outside linebacker Akeem Ayers in the first round (19th overall) and Villanova offensive lineman Benjamin Ijalana in the second round (52nd overall).

On the Ayers’ pick, SB Nation opined “The Giants perpetually replenish their defensive line via the draft, but it’s about time they concentrated on adding some linebackers.”

On Ijalana, SB Nation’s Brian Galliford wrote “The consensus top small-school product available could play tackle for the Giants, or could eventually replace Rich Seubert at guard.”

If the draft were to truly work out this way for the Giants — nabbing the top-rated 4-3 outside linebacker in the draft and one of the half-dozen best tackle prospects in the country — I believe Giants fans would have to applaud General Manager Jerry Reese.

Big Blue View has complete profiles on both Ayers and Ijalana.
