Stacy Andrews Injury Update: Giants Lineman Headed To IR

New York Giants offensive lineman Stacy Andrews will be placed on injured reserve after being hospitalized over the weekend with pulmonary embolisms in both lungs. Giants coach Tom Coughlin said today that the medical issue will end Andrews’ season.

“It is a very, very serious medical condition,” Coughlin said. “He just can’t go back to football right now.”

Andrews, in his eighth season, signed with the Giants as a free agent during training camp. The 6-foot-7, 342-pound Andrews has been used as an extra tight end and as a reserve tackle by the Giants.

Coughlin said Andrews would be able to eventually resume playing football, but not this season.

Other Giants injury news:

- The severity of Kenny Phillips’ knee injury is not yet known.
- Price Amukamara has an ankel injury of unknown severity
- Center David Baas missed Sunday’s game against Green Bay with headaches and Coughlin said today he was undergoing tests and “hopefully it can be gotten under control.”
