Packers 38, Giants 35: A Look Back

Let’s take a quick look back at the New York Giants’ 38-35 loss Sunday to the Green Bay Packers,

It Was Over When

Mason Crosby hit a game-winning 30-yard field goal as time expired to give Green Bay their 18th straight victory.

The Key Play

With the ball at Green Bay’s 44-yard line in the final minute Rodgers hit wide receiver Jordy Nelson with a 27-yard pass to New York’s 29-yard line, putting Green Bay in field-goal position just two plays after the Giants had tied the game.

On the play, Nelson beat reserve cornerback Will Blackmon to the outside and Rodgers hit him in stride down the left sideline. That, really, was all she wrote for the Giants’ chances to pull off the upset.

“We played hard and did a lot of good things but we didn’t win. There is no hanging your head, it is a tough business and you have to do the things you have to do to win the game,” said Giants coach Tom Coughlin. “We have to regroup and I think this brings us together even tighter than we have ever been before as a team. Guys laid it on the line for each other tonight and they played hard.”

Giants coach Tom Coughlin

“I am extremely proud. We fought from the first whistle to the very end. Unfortunately we came up a little bit short but it is fine because we will see them again. We are headed up. We have four games to play and we are going to fight extremely tough. We are going to make it to the postseason. We all know what happens once we get in the postseason. The record eliminates itself and then it’s may the best man win from that point on.”

Giants safety Antrel Rolle

“I can’t think of another team that really played us this well on both sides of the ball. … I think that the Giants defense did a really good job of getting us out of some stuff and hitting me a number of times. But we just made enough plays at the end to get the job done.”
