Mario Manningham Injury Update: Knee Injury Not Improving

The New York Giants have not officially ruled wide receiver Mario Manningham out of Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers, but Manningham’s chances of playing do not sound good. He missed Monday’s game against New Orleans with swelling in his knee and coach Tom Coughlin did not sound optimistic Thursday.

“They’ve done stuff about it. In other words, they’ve put some medicine in there, they’ve drained it, but there is an injury there,” Coughlin said. “We’re trying to manage it and he’s trying to manage it, but it’s not working to everybody’s favor.”

Manningham is third on the Giants in receptions with 30.

“We’d love to have him, but he hasn’t been around for a while and he didn’t practice today [Thursday] so we’ll just wait and see,” said offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride.

Without Manningham, Victor Cruz would start again. Cruz, technically the team’s No. 3 receiver, actually leads the Giants with 55 receptions. Ramses Barden would also see increased playing time.
