Osi Umenyiora Injury Update: Sprained Ankle Could Keep DE Out 2-4 Weeks, According To Report

Stay connected for news and updates

New York Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora could miss 2-4 weeks with a badly sprained ankle, according to a report from the N.Y. Daily News' Ralph Vacchiano

A source who has spoken with Umenyiora told Vacchiano that Umenyiora has a "real bad" sprained ankle, and that he "sprained pretty much everything in there." The defensive end is expected miss New York's game on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers and will probably miss the following weekend's meeting with the Dallas Cowboys, too.

Umenyiora's plan is to return on Dec. 18 against the Washington Redskins, according to the source, but even that might be optimistic.

"You never know with ankles," the source said. "It all depends on how fast they heal. And you know Osi. He wants to show everyone that he's going to push as hard as he can to get back on the field."
