Michael Clayton Injury: Giants Place Receiver On Injured Reserve

Stay connected for news and updates

The injuries continued to mount Saturday for the New York Giants when they were forced to place veteran wide receiver Michael Clayton on injured reserve after Clayton suffered a torn meniscus during practice. He will have surgery Monday.

To fill Clayton’s roster spot the Giants signed defensive end Justin Trattou off their their practice squad. Trattou, a 6-foot-4, 255-pound undrafted free agent, played in the Giants’ season opener, but was subsequently released and re-signed to the practice squad.

Clayton was signed earlier this season after Domenik Hixon suffered a season-ending knee injury. He also spent part of last season with the Giants.

Clayton appeared in five games for the Giants and did not catch a pass. He was used primarily on special teams and was credited with one special teams tackle.
