The long-awaited debut of New York Giants first-round pick Prince Amukamara will have to wait at least one more week. Amukamara, a cornerback, is among the team's list of inactives for today's against the San Francisco 49ers.
Amukamara broke his foot during training camp and has been practicing for the past few weeks, but coach Tom Coughlin said during the week that he was still not convinced that Amukamara is ready for live action.
Earlier this week Coughlin said "there has to be, in everyone's opinion, the proof - how he's performed on the practice field - before we can simply say he's ready to go. He gets better each week and everyone is thinking that the time is approaching. There are still some things that I think have to be cleared up on the practice field."
The best news for the Giants, though, is that wide receivers Hakeem Nicks (hamstring) and Mario Manningham (knee) are active.
Joining Amukamara as inactive for the Giants are running back Ahmad Bradshaw, wide receiver Jerrel Jernigan, fullback Henry Hynoski, offensive lineman James Brewer and Mitch Petrus, and defensive tackle Dwayne Hendricks.
The 49ers inactives are: QB Scott Tolzien, WR Brett Swain, CB Shawntae Spencer, FB Moran Norris, OL Daniel Kilgore, OL Mike Person, NT Ian Williams.
