Giants 21, Vikings 3: Giants Get Victory They Had To Have

The New York Giants’ 21-3 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Monday will be a memorable game, but not because of the action on the field.

It will be memorable because of the crazy circumstances. It will be memorable because the game was played at Detroit’s Ford Field instead of the Metrodome in Minneapolis due to a roof collapse. It will be memorable because it brought an end to Brett Favre’s streak of 297 straight starts.

In the end, all the Giants care about is the fact that they got the victory they needed. They are now 9-4, tied for the NFC East lead with Philadelphia heading into a showdown with the Eagles at New Meadowlands Stadium on Sunday.

The Giants got 116 yards rushing from Brandon Jacobs and 103 yards rushing from Ahmad Bradshaw. Jacobs has a 73-yard run and Bradshaw a 48-yard touchdown run. Quarterback Eli Manning had an uneven night, going 22-of-37 for 187 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.

The Giants held the Vikings to just 164 yards of total offense. Quarterback Tarvaris Jackson was 15-of-30 for 118 yards and an interception. Adrian Peterson carried the ball 14 times for just 26 yards.
