A belated 'Morning Coffee' today, delayed by a lovely morning trip to the dentist. However, I am back in business and here is your first look at the local sports scene.↵
- The New York Giants are running out of healthy receivers. Pretty soon quarterback Eli Manning is going to have to throw the ball to himself. Steve Smith is out for several more weeks. Ramses Barden is out for the year. Domenik Hixon and Victor Cruz are already on IR. Tight end Kevin Boss is hobbling around with a back injury. It has gotten so bad that some people, not so jokingly, have suggested that the Giants see if Amani Toomer will come out of retirement even though he hasn't played since 2008. After all, he is in shape since he just completed the New York City Marathon.
- The New Jersey Nets opened a West Coast trip with a 110-96 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers Monday night. ↵
- The New York Rangers defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins, 3-2, in overtime. ↵
- The New Jersey Devils continued to struggle, falling to Boston, 3-0. ↵
