NFL Power Rankings, Week 11: Aggregate Rankings for Jets, Giants

Everybody has a different opinion when it comes to NFL Power Rankings. That’s why I love the aggregate work done by Real Clear Sports, compiling rankings from nine major mainstream and fan outlets and coming up with an average ranking.

When it comes to Week 11 NFL Power Rankings here is how the New York teams fared.

The New York Jets ended up third in the aggregate rankings. Rex Ryan’s team got first-place votes (really?) from FOX Sports and the Sporting News, and fourth-place votes from SB Nation, AOL Fanhouse and USA Today. Overall, that places them third behind New England and Atlanta.

The New York Giants dropped to ninth overall after a 33-20 loss to Dallas. The received a fourth-place vote from FOX, which must be using the ‘throw out the lowest score’ theory. The Giants were placed 10th by NFL.com and SB Nation (thanks a lot, folks at the mothership!).

NFL Power Rankings, Week 11: New York Teams Tumble

Both the New York Giants and New York Jets lost ground in the SB Nation Week 11 NFL Power Rankings.

The Giants (6-3) dropped from seventh to 10th in the rankings following Sunday’s 33-20 loss to Dallas.

Here is SB Nation’s current take on the Giants:

The Giants fell to the Cowboys, 33-20, but that doesn’t make them a bad team. I’d prefer to look at the first eight games, and not the last one, as more of an indication of who this team is. They have stiff competition with the Eagles in the NFC East.

The Giants and Eagles are tied atop the NFC East and meet Sunday. Philadelphia, incidentally, is No. 5 in the power rankings after thrashing Washington Monday night, 59-28.

The Jets &-2) dropped one spot from No. 3 to No. 4 after Sunday’s 26-20 overtime victory over the Cleveland Browns.

Here is SB Nation’s take on the Jets, who host the Houston Texans this week:

This team is rolling now as they’ve won seven of eight including an OT victory over the Browns last week. It’s looking more and more like that Dec. 6 game against the Patriots will have huge division implications.

NFL Power Rankings, Week 11: How Far Will the Giants Fall?

Last week we wondered how high the New York Giants would climb in NFL Power Rankings after their fifth straight victory. Well, today we have to wonder how far the Giants will fall when Week 11 NFL Power Rankings come out on Tuesday.

The Giants (6-3) were abysmal in a 33-20 loss to the 2-7 Dallas Cowboys. SB Nation voters didn't give the Giants much respect a week ago, ranking them No. 7 despite the winning streak. You would have to think the Giants will go tumbling out of the top 10 when the mothership releases its poll findings on Tuesday. Especially since SB Nation voters had Dallas 31st in the 32-team league a week ago.

The New York Jets, meanwhile, were No. 3 in the SB Nation rankings a week ago. They improved to 7-2 Sunday with a 26-20 victory over the Cleveland Browns. While the Jets may have been fortunate to win, they did win and could find themselves No. 1 in the rankings this week.

Last week's top team, the Baltimore Ravens, lost to Atlanta, 26-21, and the No. 2 team, the Green Bay Packers, had a bye. Pittsburgh (No. 4) lost to No. 5 New England, so unless voters push the Patriots all the way to the top Gang Green could find itself as king of the Week 11 mountain.
