The New York Giants trail the Baltimore Ravens, 14-7, after one quarter of a must-win game at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore on Sunday.
The Ravens took the lead midway through the first quarter on a six-yard touchdown pass from Joe Flacco to Torrey Smith. Smith suffered a concussion last week, but was cleared to play against New York and immediately made a difference, giving Baltimore a 7-0 lead with just less than eight minutes left in the first quarter. New York, by contrast, went three-and-out on its first two drives of the game.
Flacco ran in the second touchdown himself, scoring from one-yard out to put the Ravens up 14-0 at the 4:27 mark of the first quarter. Eli Manning helped the Giants cut into the lead by guiding a 5-play, 77-yard, drive which was capped by a David Wilson touchdown run from 14 yards out with 2:54 to play in the quarter. Manning was 3-for-3 passing for 59 yards on the drive.
The Giants (8-6) come into the game needing to win and get some help to make the playoffs and attempt to defend their Super Bowl title. Baltimore (9-5) is already headed to the playoffs, but has lost its last three games coming into Week 16.
