Giants vs. Redskins: New York to face RGIII for second time

Robert Griffin III - Ronald Martinez

The New York Giants will see Robert Griffin III for the second time this season when they face the Washington Redskins on Monday Night Football.

The New York Giants escaped with a 27-23 victory over the Washington Redskins the first time the teams met this season. The Giants meet Robert Griffin III and the Redskins for the second time this season when they travel to FedEx Field for a Monday Night Football clash.

The Giants aren't necessarily looking forward to the return engagement with Griffin.

"He is one of the best dual threats in our game today and we're going to have our hands full trying to stop that guy," said defensive end Justin Tuck. "Until I exit stage right, it seems like he's going to be a fixture in my dreams and nightmares."

Griffin completed 20-of-28 passes for 258 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in that first meeting between the two teams. He also ran for 89 yards on nine carries.

Here is what Tuck said after that first meeting:

"I'm pretty mad at the football gods for putting him in the NFC East. To face that guy twice a year is going to be a headache. But, you know, the one thing about it is, a quarterback like that, he is different from the Eli's and those guys, because he presents such a hard, it's just hard to game plan that guy. He takes away from your enthusiasm for the game a little bit, when you play a play perfectly and he still has 4.3 speed to run by guys and make plays.

"A guy like him, I don't think there is anybody in the league just like him."

After the game Osi Umenyiora called Griffin "the best quarterback we've played this year" and added "Everybody is going to have difficulty with the Redskins."

After stomping the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, 38-10, the Giants are 7-4 and lead the NFC East by two games over the Redskins and Dallas Cowboys, both of whom are 5-6. A victory Monday would go a long way toward giving the Giants a clear path to the division crown.

The Giants open the week as 2.5-point favorites.

When: Monday, Dec. 3
Time: 8:30 p.m. ET
