Giants-Packers halftime score: Bradshaw, defense gives New York 31-10 lead

Al Bello

The New York Giants have responded after a bye week, opening up a 31-10 lead on the Green Bay Packers after the first half.

The New York Giantshave a 21-point lead thanks to strong defense and nice running from Ahmad Bradshaw and Andre Brown.

Bradshaw and Brown each have a touchdown, with 96 yards on only 16 carries - not counting a 59-yard reception Bradshaw made with most of the yardage coming after the catch. On defense, the Giants are hounding Aaron Rodgers, forcing three sacks and several bad throws while forcing an interception and a fumble.

The Giants scored on their first possession of the second quarter, finishing up an eight-play drive with a third-down touchdown pass across the middle to Victor Cruz for a nine-yard score. Green Bay tabbed a field goal to cut the lead to 14, but an attempted Green Bay two-minute drill ended when Osi Umenyiora forced Rodgers to fumble, giving the Giants the ball on the 23-yard line. Bradshaw rumbled into the end zone for a 13-yarder two plays later.

For the Packers, the offense hasn't really been clicking like it normally does: if you remove Jordy Nelson's first-quarter 62-yard touchdown and a 32-yard pass to fullback John Kuhn, the Packers have 95 yards of offense with two turnovers.
