New York Giants safety Stevie Brown earned the NFC Defensive Player of the Week Award this week for his two interceptions against the Dallas Cowboys last Sunday.

Brown was mostly thought of as a depth player for the Giants when the season began, but he's proven to be quite valuable for Tom Coughlin's group. The 25-year-old has seemingly been everywhere in 2012, collecting five interceptions on the young campaign. Brown became a starter when Kenny Phillips suffered a knee injury.

In the game against his hometown Cowboys, Brown also had two defensed passes and eight tackles to accompany the two picks.

Brown has really stepped it up for the Giants after not making much of an impression his first two years in the NFL, which were spent with the Oakland Raiders and Indianapolis Colts.

In those two years, Brown combined for 35 tackles. Through eight games with New York, the ex-Michigan Wolverine already has 34 to his credit.
