NBA Free Agency 2012: Nets' Target Nazr Mohammed Signs With Bulls

Stay connected for news and updates

Almost everything for the Brooklyn Nets has gone right this offseason, but on Saturday a free-agent target escaped their grasp. Veteran big man Nazr Mohammed inked a deal with the Chicago Bulls, reports the New York Post's Peter Vescey. The Nets are looking for a back-up for starting center Brook Lopez, and Mohammed was suppose to help fill that void.

The Nets currently have four big men under contract -- Lopez, Kris Humphries, Mirza Teletovic and Reggie Evans. But only Lopez is taller than 6-foot-9, leaving the Nets severely undersized if Lopez misses any time, like he did last season.

According to the Post, the Nets also lost out on the bidding of former Net Jason Collins, who signed with the Boston Celtics.
