NBA Free Agency 2012: Brooklyn Nets Sign Mirza Teletovic

The Brooklyn Nets made it official on Wednesday, announcing the signing of Bosnian forward Mirza Teletovic. General manager Billy King's official announcement wrapped up a deal that had originally been reported days before.

Part of the holdup with Teletovic had to do with negotiations over his contract and the Dwight Howard saga. The team was trying to use a smaller, cheaper mid-level exception rather than the full mid-level exception on the Bosnian forward in order to free up space for a potential Howard deal. With the Howard deal apparently called off, the Nets may have found more flexibility. Details of his contract were not announced by the team.

King spoke highly of Teletovic:

"Mirza Teletovic is one of the premier power forwards in Europe, and we are very pleased to add him to the Nets roster," said King. "He has an excellent outside game, and his ability to stretch the floor will be an important component to the team's success in the future."

Teletovic spent last season playing for Caja Laboral Vitoria of the Spanish ACB League. He averaged more than 16 points and nearly seven rebounds per game, along with 30 minutes of playing time.
