The New Jersey Nets won't have All-Star point guard Deron Williams on Monday night against the Miami Heat, according to a report. Williams is battling calf soreness in his right leg (via Ira Winderman's Twitter).
Williams was due to be a game-time decision because of the injury which he sustained in Saturday's loss to the Boston Celtics. Williams' injury occurred during a collision with Celtics' center Greg Stiemsma. Adding insult to injury, Williams was assessed a technical foul for arguing the lack of a foul call on the play.
Williams has averaged 21 points, 8.7 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game in 36.3 minutes per game. Williams leads the team in points and assists this season and is second on the team in steals (1.22 per game). The Nets are down to their final five games of the 2011-2012 season.
