The month of April arrived Sunday, and that means two things: April Fools pranks and the conclusion of the 2012 NBA Season is drawing ever so closer. For New York Knicks fans the next 26 days could be some of the most stressful, as their team is clinging onto a 2 1/2-game lead for the Eastern Conference's final playoff spot.
On Friday, the Knicks downed the Cleveland Cavaliers, 91-75, to keep thier slim margin over the Milwaukee Bucks idle, however, there's still a lot of work to do in the next month. First, the Knicks overcome the loss of point guard Jeremy Lin, and then try to weave their way through the toughest schedule left in the NBA.
Currently, the Knicks fan base must feel confident in their team's chances as they're now 9-2 under new head coach Mike Woodson. If New York is able to hang on (or if the playoffs started on Monday), the Knicks would face the Chicago Bulls in the first round, as they would be the top seed.
However, a solid push over the next few weeks could move New York all the way up to fourth place. Here's a look at the Eastern Conference standings.
