Jeremy Lin has tallied a team-best 12 points and dished out five assists, while newly acquired forward J.R. Smith made three first-quarter 3-pointers for a total of nine points to help the New York Knicks earn a 48-45 halftime advantage over the Dallas Mavericks in a inter-conferee NBA game at Madison Square Garden.
Smith, who just signed a few days ago and was questionable to play Sunday, made an immediate impact making three of his five 3-point attempts, the last giving the Knicks a 27-18 advantage with 2:16 to go in the first quarter.
Meanwhile, Lin seems to be doing everything right and doing so while committing just one turnover.
Meanwhile, Knicks veteran guard Baron Davis has yet to see the floor and may do so only during garbage-time minutes.
