Knicks Vs. Lakers: New York Defeats LA In The Garden, 92-85

The New York Knicks defeated the Los Angeles Lakers at home in Madison Square Garden in a battle of East Coast versus West Coast by a score of 92-85 on Friday night. This is the Knicks fourth game in a row and gives them a record of 12-15, which puts them ninth place in the Eastern Conference and in third place in the Atlantic Division behind the 76ers and Celtics. The Lakers, on the other hand, have lost four of their last five games and have a 15-12 record, which puts them in seventh place in the Western Conference and in second place in the Pacific Division behind the third place Clippers.

The Knicks were led by a 38-point performance by guard Jeremy Lin, who is becoming the NBA's Twitter version of Tim Tebow (see Super Lintendo and Linsanity). Jared Jeffries scored 11 and Iman Shumpert came off the bench to add 12. The Lakers were led by a 34-point performance by Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol, who scored 16. Matt Barnes also came off the bench to add 11 points.

The Knicks will look to win their fifth game in a row on Saturday night at 8 p.m. (ET) on the road in Minnesota against the Wild. The Lakers will look to get back to their winning ways on Sunday at 1 p.m. (ET) in Toronto against the Raptors.
