Jan 16, 2012 - The New Jersey Nets will soon be moving to Brooklyn. But Patrick Ewing doesn't think the change in location will be enough to win over New York City fans.
The Hall of Fame center, an 11-time All-Star for the New York Knicks, told the New York Post he does not foresee many Knicks fans converting their loyalties.
"Most of the fans will still be Knicks fans,'' Ewing said. "Brooklyn is a great town, great city. It's New York. But most of the people - like most people going to Nets games - are Knicks fans. They're going to have to their work cut out for them to try to change the culture.''
Ewing, now an assistant coach for the Orlando Magic, said he would "selfishly" like to see Dwight Howard remain in Orlando. He later fielded a question about whether the Knicks' current front court is better than Ewing's former front court, which also featured Charles Oakley and Anthony Mason.
"They just started, (but) we won a lot of games,'' Ewing said.
