The New Jersey Devils still lead the Philadelphia Flyers, 2-1, after two periods as the try to close out the second round series of the 2012 NHL Playoffs in Game 5 and advance to the Eastern Conference Finals on Tuesday night. Neither team was able to make a dent on the scoreboard, though the Flyers very nearly tied the game early in the period when Martin Brodeur got tied up behind his own net.
New Jersey out shot the Philadelphia 11-7 in the period, and now hold a 23-18 advantage for the game. They are 0-for-3 so far on three powerplay chances.
