Flyers Vs. Devils, 2012 NHL Playoffs Game 2: New Jersey Down 1-0 After 1st Period

The New Jersey Devils will take a 1-0 deficit into the second period in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference semifinal against the Philadelphia Flyers. The Devils were the bigger aggressor on the offensive end, peppering Ilya Bryzgalov with 13 shots. Martin Brodeur faced just nine shots but was less sharp than Bryzgalov, especially on the Flyers' goal early in the period.

Brodeur committed too early to the ice as Read handled the puck in front of the net, and was slow to recover as the puck bounced around back to the left hand circle. The goal was Read's third of the playoffs.

Zach Parise and Marek Zidlicky both had three shots on goal during the period, but the Devils remain scoreless. The Flyers will start the second period on a two minute powerplay after Bryce Salvador was whistled late for interference.
