Steve Bernier put the New Jersey Devils' up 1-0 late in the first period on a pretty odd-angle shot through the pads of Scott Clemmensen. The goal gave New Jersey some much-needed momentum as they try to stave off elimination at the hands of the Florida Panthers in Game 6 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series.
Scottie Upshall apparently didn't appreciate the nerve of Bernier for scoring, and decided to teach the winger a lesson late in the second period. Check out the GIF after the jump.
Bernier nearly had his second goal of the night, something Upshall had to deal with in his own way, apparently. Nice job by the ref to get his hands dirty. For reference, here's Bernier's goal from earlier.
